Probably the most controversial of all the childhood vaccines, the DTP is comprised of a vaccination against Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (whooping cough).  All three of these illnesses are bacterial in nature. Other bacterial vaccines in the childhood vaccination schedule include Hib (Haemphilus Influenzae type B), Meningococcal, and Pneumococcal.
The pertussis or whooping cough vaccine has been cited as the cause of a great deal of suffering and death since the report by Madsen et al in 1933.  Despite the more than 70 years of controversy since that time, this vaccine continues to be used.
All whole cell DTP vaccines contain mercury in the form of thiomersal. Mercury is one of the most toxic (poisonous) substances known to man and has been linked with forms of brain damage including Autism.
DTP - Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis
Given as part of childhood schedule at: 2, 4 & 6 mths, then 4yrs of age.
